I found this video about rising college costs and how much parents pay for college based on their income. It's really scary knowing that you may be forced to choose between your dream school and the more "economic" choice.
In your post, answer the following questions:
What are your concerns about college costs?
What would you rather choose, your dream school, or the "economic" choice? WHY?

8B02 My concerns about college cost are that they are extremely expensive, and that if I do get into my dream college I will not be able to go because of the cost. My parents have always told me that I need to get a partial scholarship, or somehow get half of the money, and they will pay the rest. I think that that will be very hard, especially with so many other students who are applying for scholarships. I think that I would rather choose an "economic" college because I have learned from my parents that saving money is a good thing. I also would choose this school because I do not have a dream school, and have never really wanted to go to college. I feel bad for the girl in the video, but I also understand where parents are coming from, about not wanting to have to pay to put multiply kids through college.
ReplyDelete8B05 The concerns I have about collage, is not only the tuition and board, but also the cost cost of books and other simple necessities that are needed to go to collage. Just board can be a problem, and not the tuition itself because most of the tuition comes from that board, and w/the economy at where it is right now, and all the jobs that are being cut, I think that it will be even more expensive to go to collage, so a huge concern about collage is the money. Money are not the only factors to worry about, but what you want to achieve. I would rather go to my dream school, rather than go to a community collage because i know exactly what I want to be when I grow up so, if i simply go to a community/cheaper collage w/out some of the programs from my dream collage, than I think that it is simply a waste of the time effort and money if I study in something that I don't have an interest nor pursuit to develop a career. And if you go to your dream school and pursuit your career, then you will achieve and then be able to pay back any collage loans. There are even special loans for students in collage so they can make these decisions. If I could study what I am interested in, or go to a collage that offered less than the other one if coarse I would choose the dream collage. But then it really depends on if the money is actually worth the expensive collage, and how much I want to go there, but I would rather let my interests choose the collage rather than the money in my pocket.
ReplyDelete8B06 My brothers go to college I have witnessed myself how expensive everything is espcially if you live off campus. My concern is not only the cost of tuition but also of everything else. There are books, dorm or apartment fees, cost of food, and also simple everyday things you need such as clothes and shoes. I would probably then go to my choice of college. I know my parents will try thier best to work it out with loans and such. I could also apply fo scholerships. If I can get a good education I think I will do well in life. Going to a community college would not discourage me doing well in life but I think I would get further if I went to a private or higher rated school.
ReplyDelete8B13 My concerns about the tuition of college is that I worked hard and earned the right to become of a part of my dream college and then be forced to leave because it was to "costly". To become a part of a very prestigous college is a great honor that requires hard work and determination. I think I would choose my dream college because it may open doors to my future. If you attend your dream college you will be following your dream and making a brighter future for yourself
ReplyDelete8B10 My main concern about the cost of college is that in a couple years, by the time I apply to colleges, it will be way more expensive than $25,000. It's a terrible thing because it is crushing the dreams of many young adults across the country. I would probably rather go with my dream school. This is because I want to be able to fulfill a goal in my life and get a sense of accomplishment. Sometimes, goals come at a not-so-cheap cost (literally). A lot of people in the future will have to go to the more economic school, though, especially if you look at the economy today.
ReplyDeleteMy concerns about college costs are how high they have become and also all the things that go along with the tution. Also if college costs keep rising then how much will it be when I apply? Having two sisters is also a worry because I'm not the only one going to college. I would rather do my dream school because there are multiple things to can do to help pay for college. Also after working hard to make it into your choice of college then having to turn it down would be really sad.
